I just heard about The Next Big Thing Blog Hop. What is it you ask? Well, it is a great chance for authors to share their work with people who might never have heard of them before. We answer 10 questions about a story we are currently working on, as well as include links to the person who mentioned this to us as well as at least five other writers we love. So, here goes! The wonderful person who tagged me is Douglas Cobb. Check out his blog!
What is the working title of your book? My WIP is called Betrayed. I actually did not know the title until midway through the first draft. One of my characters fleshed it out for me.
Where did the idea come from for the book? I always have all sorts of crazy ideas floating around in my head. This particular one came because I was writing another Library Tale. For those that don't know, a Library Tale includes fantasies involving libraries. I have written three, two are published and the third will be soon. This one is the fourth and it turned out to be more than just a story and has become a novella.
What genre does your book fall under? Paranormal BDSM Erotic Romance Yes, I know that sounds like a mouthfull, but it fulfills all those genres. It is hot as hell as well.
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition? Oh dear. That is difficult. I could see Helen Soraya as Jennifer. Viggo Mortensen as Peter. I could see Amanda Seyfried as Landria,,, Maybe. Of the other two main characters, the handsome rake and the disgruntled loner, I honestly have no idea.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? When a young woman finds a mystical portal through a private library that lands her inside the pages of an erotic novel experiencing life as the heroine does, can she write her own happily ever after when she finds she has permanently damaged the story?
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? It depends. I have sent a query on it out to a publisher, but if that doesn't work, I can always self-publish like I have the others.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? Four days. Sounds short, I know. But I wrote a full 70,000 word novel in six days once. When the passion for a storyline hits, sometimes I cannot stop writing because the story writes itself.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre? Well, with its BDSM & romance aspects, Masters of the Shadowlands by Cherise Sinclair. But seriously, I haven't read another story like this. If I start writing and the story sounds familiar? I stop writing.
Who or What inspired you to write this book? I have a passion for libraries. Some of my craziest fantasies involve them. I also love the paranormal and when things act like they don't in our reality. The idea of entering another dimension in some way intrigues me. I can only assume all of that came together in the telling of this story.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? It includes romance as well as erotica. It is a fun tale about two people from such divergent places and times that you think there is no way they could be right for one another, and yet they are. Plus, the epilogue makes you realize there are many such stories in the future... and that there is something about Jennifer Markham that you need to keep your eyes on. Can she be trusted? Should she be trusted?
