Do any of the rest of you do this?
I set up twice a year to go over my goals, see where I am on track, where I have gotten off track, mark the ones that are completed and write new ones.
Usually, I focus in April and October because I have this bugaboo about New Year's Resolutions. Why? Because NYRs are made to be broken. I saw a statistic once that the majority of NYRs were broken within 6 weeks.
SIX WEEKS! Half of them before January even concluded. Now that is sad.
Is that because people make goals they don't expect to succeed at? Or because they make goals without thinking about them?
So, along with all the other craziness going on, I review my goals and solidify new ones.
Some of my goals (with writing/publishing) are going along swimmingly. Some, like Red Band Erotica, or going by at a snail's pace but still inching forward.
Two personal goals actually seem further away now than they did last April, and that is rather disappointing as those two goals I have been working on for a very long time. I had a dream that showed me letting the one go... It is rather sad, but I will have to consider that.
So far, for me, I have for 2013:
8 or more self-published books
2 or more acceptances for longer books by publishers
Finish the YA book
Buy a house
Have $250,000 in my bank account
Have a fun, trusting, healthy, passionate relationship with a great man
The first one is the only one I absolutely know I can attain. The universe will have to show me the way to the others:) And I know before I print them off and put them on my wall that I will add more and revise many times.
So what important things are you paying attention to? What goals do you want to attain in the next 6-12 months?
