Hello, Taboo Tuesday
! I've got a taboo here that isn't taboo to me and I do not see how it should be taboo to anyone else, but apparently it is.
What's my taboo? A father/son discussing sex openly as adults - so openly in fact, that the father taught the son much of what he knew, about spanking anyway. Here are two segments - the first is the original scene, how I wrote it, the second is how it appeared in the final form because the editor wasn't thrilled with the concept of Logan and Gregory being so open with one another. She thought it sounded 'awkward'. The scene is Logan talking with his boyfriend Christian about his past.
As first written:
“By the end of the school year, I knew I loved to paint an ass red. It filled me up in a way I cannot explain but I was just finishing up my freshmen year in college and was still a twink for all intents and purposes. And a virgin. I asked Dad for pointers on spanking and he taught me a lot. Most of it I tried out on Mac and a couple other bottoms down here. It wasn’t until last summer that I realized Mac had kind of monopolized me; he let the other bottoms think he and I were a thing.”
“By the end of the school year, I knew I loved to paint an ass red. It filled me up in a way I cannot explain, but I was just finishing up my freshmen year in college and was still a twink for all intents and purposes. And a virgin. Thankfully there was a lot of information online about it. Most of it I tried out on Mac and a couple other bottoms down here. It wasn’t until last summer that I realized Mac had kind of monopolized me. He let the other bottoms think he and I were a thing.”
I wish I hadn't caved with that change. To me, taking Gregory out of the equation watered down the whole paragraph. One of my favorite things about the books is Logan's open and honest relationship with his folks, especially his dad.
What's the deal, peeps? Talking about sex is NOT a bad thing. In fact, it's a very adult thing. Adults should never be ashamed or afraid to discuss sex in an open, non-dirty manner. (Or a dirty manner if that's what they prefer.)
*raises banner* It's time to take sex out of the corner and into the living room! Open up honest, blunt discussions about sex with your kids. Believe me. If they know they can talk to you, they're less likely to get their wrong information from someone else. Isn't it better they get their
wrong information from you? *weg*
Took My Breath Away
Genre: Gay DD/Spanking Romance
Series: All They Ever Needed trilogy
Sometimes taking control is what you need to do and sometimes the best thing you can do is give that control up.
In the summer between Logan's junior and senior years of college, these two will find out more about each other and themselves than they imagined.
While unhappy to be missing four weeks of Christian's company, Logan is thrilled to spend a month with his father's relatives in New York. A naturally gregarious individual, he is used to winning people over and getting things right. Unfortunately, the Mannettes are not what he expects and for the first time in his life, he finds himself seriously doubting who he is.
Christian has regained some of his old self-esteem and is taking on new challenges. Besides growing in the relationship he has with Logan, he takes the time his boyfriend is away to learn more about domestic discipline. He learns a little online but it is actually Gregory, Logan's father, where he gains most of his information. Including the fact that his natural strength puts him in a leadership position he isn't expecting.
When Logan returns to a strong, self-assured Christian, it is with complete relief. As discussions turn to domestic discipline and they realize their true roles within their current and future relationship, both of them are able to let their inhibitions go and together their connection grows surprising Logan to an epiphany.
