Now that His Damsel in Distress
is out, I'm continuing on with the highlander/time-travel novel I'm writing. This continues from my post last week.
As they ate their dessert, she decided to test out the subject. “Have you ever heard of the McVeerens?” she asked cautiously.
His eyebrows drew together and she could swear the next words out of his mouth were guarded. “Only from your grandmother and even then, not much. Why?”
“Please,” she said with a shake of her head while pushing away the creamy looking dessert that not five minutes ago she had been ravenous for. “Don’t prevaricate, Mr. Howe. She wants me to do something in reference to the old clan and I need to know what you know.”
He slowly ate a piece of his sweet, chewing it thoroughly and swallowing before he answered. “Miss Jasmine, I do wish I could answer your question. But by her instructions to me, I cannot.”
She couldn’t fault him for not discussing the same thing she couldn’t talk about either. How could either of them bring about up such a crazy, fanciful tale right out of some children’s book? “Can you at least tell me where they supposedly lived?” After all, that was a definite problem if she actually lifted up this torch and went on this fanciful journey for her daft grandmother. Scotland was a bit of a no-man’s land to her, at least the Highland part. The lowlands she somewhat understood as Beatrice’s people were from there, but the highlands always seemed to her like some mystical place.
WIP Title - Mystic Torch
WIP Blurb - For Jasmine MacLeary, coming home was not as joyous as it could have been. For she only came to England at the request of her grandmother's solicitor and only after hearing that her beloved grandmother was dead. She thought she was there to get things in order. Nothing prepared her for the quest her deceased relative sent her on.
Now go on and check out the other WIP It Up posts. You know you wanna! :)
