I'm continuing on with the highlander/time-travel novel I'm writing. This continues from WIPItUp post March 25th.
Thankful there was a chippy just a few doors down from her hotel, she went there on foot. The place was packed and after she ordered, she enjoyed people watching. One group in the corner seemed to be all college-aged males. They watched every female who walked by their table and a couple times, their glances fell upon her with interest. In the alternate corner, there was a young family. The father was trying to keep three children quiet as they ate while the mother was feeding a baby. Torn from her favorite activity as her name was called, she picked up her bag and took it back to her hotel room
The scent of fish and chips tickled her nose as she tore open the bag and distant memories of laughter combined with the face of her mother crossed her mind. Chayanne Riddlebrooke MacLeary had been a beautiful woman. While Jasmine shared her mother’s skin tone and angled features, she wished she had her striking straight raven hair. Jasmine’s fiery locks had unfortunately caused more than one problem. Besides the inordinate amount of teasing she had received from other children, everyone seemed to blame her hair color for her temper. If she had just been born with raven locks rather than red, Jasmine was sure her temper would not nearly have been so bad.
Taking a bite of fish, she moaned as she sat down at the small table in her room. This was exactly how she remembered it. Why couldn’t places in the U.S. make it like this? As she ate, her eyes watched the envelope. Of course, she recognized that she was putting it off. Part of her was afraid to open it. Broderick had insisted his mother was daft and had lost it. Even Beatrice had begged her to follow the journey whether or not Jasmine thought she was crazy.
WIP Title - Mystic Torch
WIP Blurb - For Jasmine MacLeary, coming home was not as joyous as it could have been. For she only came to England at the request of her grandmother's solicitor and only after hearing that her beloved grandmother was dead. She thought she was there to get things in order. Nothing prepared her for the quest her deceased relative sent her on.
Now go on and check out the other WIP It Up posts. You know you wanna! :)
